Gilding Wrought Iron with Gold LeafTransfer gold leaf gildingThe gilded crown within these gates was unable to be galvanised and had to be treated with a specialist primer to inhibit the formation of rust, followed by a matching corrosion inhibiting top coat onto which the gold leaf has been applied. The crown is unusual in that it was produced by laser cutting the shape from 30mm thick mild steel rather than the traditional method of being forged or shaped and welded together with the welds ground down. The gates and railings were manufacured and installed by Kimber Engineering of Essex, their phone number is 01708 852469 |
