Wooden Hanging Signs
The 21 Hotel & Guest House
in Brighton, Sussex

This hanging sign has a solid oak frame, the sign panel is cut from exterior 9mm marine ply then glued into a rebate in the oak frame. The whole is painted with two coats of aluminium wood primer, one coat of undercoat and three coats of gloss to provide the background colour.
The lettering is all painted by hand using signwriters oils on a faux woodgrained background to match the clients logo.

We made this hanging sign and bracket for the Dragon Hotel in Crickhowell, South Wales. The bracket was designed and produced by the multi talented Geoff Powell. What is often described as wrought iron is, nowadays, usually forged mild steel which doesn't have the weather resistant qualities of real wrought iron and is usually protected by galvanising as well as painting.

A hanging sign bracket will cost you quite a packet to design something unique and manufacture,- probably £500 to £1000 depending upon complexity, you would then have to add the cost of the sign and fixing.

The sign itself (without bracket and fixing) cost about £2000 and took 3 weeks to produce.

A cheaper alternative is to use digtal prints but the quality is reduced. frame and traditonal signpainting in oils and gold leaf lettering
